Building & Culture Days 12.-20. Sept 2020

Fachwerk Allschwil "We're lucky to be here" | Building & Culture Days 2020

On the 12th and 13th  September 2020, this year's European Heritage Days will take place in Allschwil under the motto "Continue to build". As a supplement, the Fachwerk Allschwil, as a stage for building and culture, in cooperation with other participants, is organizing the Building & Culture Days 2020 under the motto "Fortunately we are here" until September 20th. For 9 days, film screenings, theater productions, concerts, exhibitions, workshops on fermentation and a variety of offers for children can be experienced in the Allschwil community and the Triregio.

Under this guiding principle, the local population in Allschwil and Triregio should be invited to linger - in public space, in cultural places, a former synagogue - and to ask themselves how sustainable we can be today.

The program includes various smaller events, some of which take place outdoors. For example, the Basel String Quartet will play a piece composed by John Cage on September 12th and 17th at various locations in Allschwil (including the village square, brickyard area, construction site in the Bachgraben area) and in the former synagogue in Hégenheim.
On September 15th, 16th, 19th and 20th, the "poetry ambulance", an idea of the Swiss actor Albi Klieber and implemented digitally for the first time by Hamburg's Thalia Theater, will be on the road in Allschwil from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Raphael Clamer will recite poems to passers-by, supported by secondary school students.

A Roman wind tunnel, an aeroduct, will be on display behind the Dorf-Coop in the parking lot from tomorrow, Saturday, 2 p.m. "In aeroducts, the wind is directed and shaped, but at the same time guided in a circle in order to study its behavior," explains Burr.
Starting tomorrow, behind the Rössli, a group of architecture and art students from Vienna's universities will be setting up an exhibition with workshops on fermentation in the Haus zum Blauen Letten. Here, in cooperation with the Viennese restaurant Bruder, a range of fermented foods and drinks is being developed. The exhibition runs from 14 to 20 September from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.

In cooperation with the drumrum Raumschule, a pioneer in the implementation of experimental and participatory building culture projects with children and young people, there will be workshops and an exhibition on September 12th and 13th in the garden of the Allschwil local history museum and on September 19th and 20th in the public space of Allschwil on the subject of the European Monument Days "Continue to build".
